DESCRIPTION

Still life paintings are often seen to be boring and predictable. However they don’t have to be.
In this workshop we take the common theme and expand and explore possibilities - making the subject of still life more interesting and enjoyable.
By changing the definition of and perception of what still life is, and by using compositional and lighting techniques, we can turn the ordinary still life into something extra ordinary and fresh. Join me and lets explore!

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • For those that want to explore new subject matter.

  • For those who realise there is more to painting than copying what is in front of you.

  • For those who just know there has to be more to painting than producing a pretty picture.

  • For those who want to get out of a rut.

  • For those who want to bring a little freshness to their work.

  • For those who like to work from photos and from life.

  • This class is based around watercolour, but may include some mixed media, gouache and/or acrylics.

  • This is not a class for beginners and it is expected that you have some experience with watercolours (or other media).

  • Please note - Participants must be 18 years old or over.

CLASS SIZE

Maximum class size is 10 and a minimum of 6 is required for the workshop to proceed.

EQUIPMENT

You will most likely already have appropriate watercolour equipment.
For interest here is my general list of materials.
Note: you don't need to rush out and buy these as it is just a guide. Just bring what you usually use
(you can also work in gouache, acrylics, pencils, pens and/or markers if you like for any mixed media work)

NOTE: For this workshop it is also essential that you have a camera, phone and/or tablet/laptop as you will be mostly working from photos that you take in class of the still life.

  • Cancellations received in writing before/including May 10 will receive a total refund

  • Cancellations between and including May 11 to June 6 will receive 50% refund

  • Cancellations after/including June 7 will forfeit the workshop fee

  • There is no option to transfer to another workshop unless your place can be resold

  • There are strictly NO exceptions to the above conditions

WHERE IS YACKANDANDAH?

 

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Accommodation, travel and meals are at your own expense.

There are two motels in the township - Yackandandah Central (which is very close to my Gallery) and Motel Views Yackandandah.

There are several B&B’s in the Yackandandah area including the very close and cosy “The Stonebridge Studio” which features some of my prints :).

For a cabin in a pretty caravan park, you can stay at the Yackandandah Holiday Park.

If you wish to investigate accommodation possibilities, you can simply google. There are places to stay in Albury/Wodonga, Beechworth or Yackandandah.
